This new Lastpass plugin behaviour however reverts everything. A Lastpass icon in my browser meant I didn't have to open yet another application, which is great because there's always too many windows open at a point in time. In these situations, Lastpass was way better than other options such as Keepass and others when I first came across it in the early 2010s. On top of that, I use Lastpass for ALL my passwords, not only on websites, but also for network applications systems on my laptop. It's also stupid because the whole password database is already loaded memory and opening the Vault on a separate page means reloading and decrypting the whole thing again. This often costs about 10 seconds, depending on the quality of the internet connection, and by that time my mind get distracted because I'm irritated waiting for what in the past was an immediate action. It requires me to click on the Vault option, wait for a new tab to open AND render the round-trip request to the Lastpass server, then click on the search text and then finally type my new site. This might seem a simple operation, but it's not. I'm very disciplined and create and store all my credentials on Lastpass, so I'm left with no other option but to manually open another tab on the browser, then type abc.net. Now if I type abc.net, nothing shows up because the plugin only shows entries for the current site (when they exist). If I want to visit abc.net, in the past I could just write " abc.net" on the Lastpass plugin, it would show me all the entries for abc.net and allow me to launch the website directly from there. That functionality is no longer available because Lastpass now filters entries for the current site only.įor instance, say I have an open page at and there's an entry in Lastpass for One recent example is the ability to search any entry by just clicking on the Lastpass icon on my browser toolbar which is now absent on the current version. It makes me want to look into another option, which is a shame as I have been with Lastpass since the days of Xmarks, promoting the app for over 10 years to 3 different organizations as an IT manager. Lastpass has been increasingly losing usability at the cost of nice designed interfaces.
